The NFL Low Down Week #6

As I reflect back on my years of sports watching, I am amazed at how the conversations we have now are more centered around organizational talk & x's and o's instead of the players themselves & their actions on the field. When you look at a football game now, there is a lot more emphasis put on play calling and officiating than the actual game itself. Sports talk radio has become a forum for disgruntled fans to voice their displeasure over their favorite teams performance. An avenue to call out the coaching staff's for failing to win games & for calling plays that they disagree with. I remember having conversations about sports when I was growing up with my boy Greg & they centered around my team being better than his, not how conservative my team played or how my head coach is not a disciplinarian. Where did all of the happy go lucky sports talk go? I think fans started to believe they were experts at breaking down games when Madden hit the shelves & ESPN and HBO started doing segment shows breaking down the film of NFL games. Now every Tom, Eddie Long (I mean Dick) & Harry believes they are qualified to call plays & blasts their organizations failures. If you don't want people criticizing play calling...don't expose them to that shit by allowing them to watch shows like Hard Knocks. Football is a 365 day 24-7 operation now & it is more popular than ever. When a Jaguars/Titans game gets higher ratings than a Yankees/Rangers playoff game, that should tell you how popular the sport is. I believe that some fans are knowledgeable & know a great deal about football, myself included. But for those of you that don't....just remember that intelligence wasn't handed out to everyone at birth. You are still entitled to your opinion even if you are a buffoon, because at the end of the day there would be no talk radio without you. FANS ARE JUST THAT FANATIC. THEY ARE ENTITLED TO RIDE THEIR EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER UP & DOWN AS MUCH AS THEY LIKE, BOO OR CHEER WHOEVER THE HELL THEY WANT. To all you so called talk show radio hosts who never played a down in the NFL, WHY DON'T YOU TRY HAVING A THREE OR FOUR HOUR SHOW IN WHICH ONLY YOUR VOICE IS HEARD. My bad then you would start to look like the buffoon when you would run out of shit to talk about.....

Point made, now on to THE LOWDOWN.

WHAT I LEARNED IN WEEK #6:

* Any moves that the NFL makes in regards to protecting players is nothing but a positive. Unless you have stood in the pocket & been on the receiving end of 46 blitz by the Jets or have run a skinny post over the middle & been met by Ray Lewis...then guess what? Your motherfucking opinion doesn't count, so shut the fuck up. All this talk about making it easy for offenses to score is bullshit. Players are bigger, stronger & faster now a days. The damage they inflict on each other is criminal. NFL do something about the senseless acts of violence that exist in the game today before one of your players ends up taking a permanent dirt nap on National TV.

* I don't blame Cameron for the Ravens loss on Sunday. I blame Harbaugh & his choice for D-Coordinator Greg Madison. Rushing 3 & dropping back 8 on Brady is like asking Eddie Long to be a guidance counselor at an all boys school. Only bad shit can happen. Hey Brad Piff, still don't miss Rex?

* When it comes to drawing up plays, Mike Martz is a genius. But when it comes to making end game adjustments, he is about as successful as Jerry Jones is at picking coaches. How many more hits is Jay Cutler going to take before he says fuck this shit? Mike Martz isn't out there taking hits, so he keeps dropping back Cutler like he is playing a game of Madden. It is all right to throw the football, but don't do so at the sake of your QB'S health & mental toughness. Just ask Kyle Bowler & David Carr.

* Don't look now but the Jets are on a roll! Sanchez & LT are leading the way much to the dismay of Ravens fans, Charger fans & every media member who criticized Rex for the swagger he displays in running his team. LT said that he would run through a brick wall for Rex. But when asked about Norv Turner, he said if he was on fire he wouldn't even piss on him. Dammmmmmm!!!!

* If it wasn't for bad luck McNabb wouldn't have any luck at all. He basically played his whole career in Philly without offensive weapons until they acquired T.O. Once this occured, ALL HE DID WAS TAKE HIS TEAM TO THE SUPER BOWL. Then Andy Reid goes out & drafts some nice young talent on offense & trades Donovan the next year. Now he is in Washington, a team with no weapons & he is winning ugly one again. Watch what happens two years from now. The Skins will draft some young talent or sign some free agents. Then McNabb will be gone again in favor of another hot shot QB. Just imagine how different his career could have turned out if he was surrounded by talent on offense & he wasn't forced to win games all by himself.

* T-Sizzle (Terrell Suggs) recently told Bart Scott to shut the fuck up & play ball. He was referencing the fact that the Jets hadn't beaten them, therefore hadn't earned the right to talk shit. Well Tom Brady said the other day on his radio show, "The Ravens talk a lot of shit for a team that has beaten them one time in the last 9 years." I have only one thing to say....the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Where do you think Bart Scott got that shit from? Ray Lewis said and I quote...

The Bills are going to be in trouble next Sunday!

I guess they are going to be the sacrificial lamb. There is nothing wrong with trash talk. As a matter of fact that's what a Rex Ryan led defense does. I just think that somewhere along the lines the Ravens defense had loss their passion/identity & just realized it is up there in New York with their former coach.

* It looks like Pete Carroll isn't that bad of a coach after all. He is rebuilding the Seahawks & suprisingly they have played hard this year. His skeptics predicted his colossal failure. Now they are starting to eat their words. Just remember that at the end of the day everyone should be given a fair shot before being labeled. Contrary to popular belief, every ex USC player will not have a job with him.

* Blame ESPN & the Miami Hurricanes for the lack of fundamentals & the emphasis on big plays/ big hits in the NFL. Fundamental tackling & textbook play doesn't get you drafted into the 1st round or a highlights on ESPN. The next time a player is rewarded for arm tackling & wrapping up a player will be the 1st time. Ed Reed jumps routes & gambles his ass off. Ray Lewis has made a living out of knocking the shit out of players (ask Chad Johnson) & being rewarded for it. If I was a Defensive player in college I would try my best to play like Ed or Ray. Now don't get me wrong, these players are HOF players. But even you have to admit that a lot of what they do is not textbook or fundamentally sound. So when you see Dunta Johnson lay out DeSean Jackson like he did on Sunday, ask him where he got that shit from & whats going to keep him from doing it again. Get rid of segments liked Jacked up & stop highlighting bone crushing hits. Then just maybe this league will return to one where football is played like the sport it is supposed to be. Not a game of who is the baddest motherfucker on the block.

* If the league was concerned with injuries and the well being of the players, then why in the hell are they going to 18 games? Cash rules everything around me.

* Contrary to popular belief, I don't believe that Norv Turner is the problem in San Diego. I think the real problem is that the players have made up in their mind that management doesn't really care about anyone other than Rivers & it has caused their play on the field to suffer. They let Turner go to Atlanta, let LT go to the Jets along with Cromartie and they refuse to make up their mind on Vincent Jackson. I almost forgot, Lights Out could soon be seen playing for the Ravens. At the end of the day, players have to look out for themselves & the Chargers are making it easy for them to do so. Who wants to play for an organization that doesn't take care of their talent or at least show a commitment to winning?

* I hate to say it , but the Giants are starting to look like a true contender in the NFC. They have always had a true pass rush & running game, but I think their Achilles heel is still THE BOOK OF Eli Manning . Even though he has a Super Bowl ring, I have as much faith in him as I do in Wade Phillips becoming a disciplinarian. Time will tell, but I don't see it ending pretty for the Giants.

* Can someone tell me what the Falcons do well, because I still haven't figured them out? The media loves them, but they look like an average team to me.

UNECESSARY ROUGHNESS:

Bill Cowher or John Gruden better be coaching my Boys next year or Wade Phillips must really have pictures of Jerry Jones modeling girls underwear for Jason Garrett. Why else would he hang onto Wade this long? You are wasting the prime years of Newman, Ware, Whitten, and Barber. The window is going to close in a couple of years & they need an offensive line now. The offense ranks third in yds & the defense ranks 4th. Romo has the 4th highest QB rating & his touchdown to int ratio is one less than Brees (tied with Aaron Rodgers). I'm tired of this team inventing ways to lose. It's been 4 years of this shit. Garretts said Romo played well and executed the plays that were called. Yeah & I guess HOMEBOYS FROM OUTER SPACE should still be on the air also. What fucking game was he watching? After throwing three picks Romo should have his ass kicked not kissed. No wonder these motherfuckers do what they want, because when they fuck up there is no fear of being called out. Fuck up like that in front of Bill Cowher. You will have your face masked grabbed & a whole lot of spit coming at you while you are being cursed out for costing the team the game. When asked to comment, Wade Phillips said a loss is a loss & they are all the same. Fucking loser. I'm sick of this shit. Get rid of the whole fucking team & start over goddammit.

HIGH FIVE:

1) JETS 5-1 Confidence & belief grows by the week.
2) Steelers 4-1 Watch out Ben is back & they didnt skip a beat.
3) PATS 4-1 Winning without Moss is just what they do.
4) Ravens 4-2 Tough loss. Yes Ray, the Bills should be in trouble.
5) Saints 4-2 Still in the running.

BUFFOON OF THE WEEK:

My buffoon of the week is a man you all adore, love & revear. In your eyes he is the greatest of all time & he can do know wrong. He has never been out played, never loss a game in his life & he is the perfect athlete with no flaws on or off the court. He has convinced ya'll dumb mutherfuckers that Byron Russell was the reason why he returned to the league after he was retired & that his last second shot against Utah in the finals was planned. The man that I chose as buffoon of the week is MICHAEL JEFFREY JORDAN.

How dare you say that Kobe Bean Bryant may be in the top 10 shooting guards of all time list. Not the top 10 all time players, not the top 2 shooting guards, but maybe the top 10 shooting guards list?! Are you fucking serious?! Did Barkley put you up to this shit, because we know he is a Kobe hater. I attributed this comment to old age or probably fear. Because I know you recall those encounters when your Bulls played young Kobe & the Lakers. Where 1 on 1 Kobe bust your ass. Yes, I'm talking head up. Kobe went at you hard from the time he was a rookie until the time you walked away. REMEBER WHEN YOU WERE A WIZARD AND HE HUNG SO MANY BUCKETS ON YOU THAT PHIL HAD TO CALL HIM OFF? Besides maybe yourself, name me one shooting guard thats better. Joe Dumars, Reggie Miller, Clyde Drexler, D-Wade, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson? No.....Can't do it.

In a personal conversation Kobe told me he was going to stick around in the NBA long enough so that he can play your son. That way he can bust his ass on the court like he did you. He is going to make young Jordan pay for your sins since all your old ass can do now is run mouth. Go back & look at footage old man.....ball don't lie. You can call out John Starks, Craig Ehlo, Jerry Stackhouse, Byron Russell & the rests of those bums you put a hurtin' to. But for disrespecting the greatest player in the game right now you are buffoon of the week. I guess 5 rings & 7 finals appearences don't mean shit nowadays. KB dropped 81 in a game....not practice. He dropped 62 in a game (in three quartes, he set out the 4th quarter) & he gets treated like he is Harold Miner?!

Man, I'm done.

I'm out like MJ's memory & playing career.

The NFL Lowdown Week #5

Let's pretend you were a NFL head coach & you had three quality first string running backs. One has all the talent in the world & blazing speed. The other has tremendous heart & will run a motherfucker over in a minute. The third combines traits from the first two, but unfortunately has to back them up. Your offensive line is a little banged up, but when called upon can run block their asses off. Oh & let me throw in the fact that you have a pro bowl QB who has the potential for greatness, a solid wide receiving core & a tight end that's a coaches dream. What would your play calling look like if you were the OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR? Think before you answer that......

Most of you would probably say you would either run the ball or you would have a balanced attack. I say you are all full of shit & here is why.

I was talking to my boy Greg the other day & we were talking about play calling when a revelation hit me. When is the last time a predominantly run oriented offensive coordinator got a head coaching job in the NFL? Think about it. The Ravens who are known for running the ball & playing stellar defense have had Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Jack Del Rio, Rex Ryan, Marvin Lewis & Jim Scwartz all become head coaches in the NFL. Guess what all of them have in common.....They came from the defensive side of the ball. Name me the Ravens offensive coordinators during their run! Matt Cavanaugh, Jim Fossell & Brian Billick (who took over the play calling) are all out of work. The common denominator is...if you don't throw the ball, you won't be a head coach in the NFL. The year the Giants defeated the Undefeated Pats in the Super Bowl, who got a job off of that squad? I think he is coaching the Rams now & he was the defensive coordinator. His name is Tony Spagnola. Trivia question for you....who was the offensive coordinator for the Panthers when they produced two 1,000 yd rushers and a 1,000 yd receive? Give up. Don't worry, I can't named that sum bitch either. The offensive coordinator for the 85 Bears got a head coaching job didn't he? Wrong....that was Buddy Ryan the Defensive coordinator. It took Gary Kubiak (offensive coordinator for Run University in Denver) years before he got a job. Guys like Mike Shannahan, Jon Gruden, Sean Payton, Andy Reid & Norv Turner sling that rock & they got jobs. Much like chicks dig the long ball....Owners dig QBs throwing that ball. So the next time you question your favorite teams play calling just remember...they are not only playing to win, but they auditioning for their next job also.

UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS:

Being a Cowboys fan makes me feel like the chick in Baby Boy that played Jody's girlfriend. Remember her classic line "HOW MUCH SHIT CAN A BITCH TAKE" because of the way Jody cheated on her over & over again. Well I ask Jerry Jones the same shit. THE FUCKING SUPER BOWL IS IN YOUR STADIUM THIS YEAR. HELLO MCFLY...THE SUPERBOWL IS IN YOUR FUCKING 800 TRILLION DOLLAR STADIUM & YOUR FUCKING TEAM IS GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO GET IN. IMAGINE THE FUCKING STEELERS OR RAVENS HOSTING THE LOMBARDI TROPHY IN YOUR BUILDING?! THAT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE ME FUCKING PUKE. THAT IS IREPRHENSIBLE GODDAMMIT. WHERE IS YOUR PRIDE & YOUR WIN AT ALL COST ATTITUDE? YOU USED TO BE RUTHLESS & MERCILESS. YOU FUCKING FIRED JIMMY JOHNSON FOR TALKING ABOUT YOU BEHIND YOUR BACK & HE WON TWO FUCKING SUPER BOWLS. NOW YOU HAVE COMPASSION FOR THAT SIMPLE MINDED MORON WADE PHILLIPS?! I LIKE HIM & I HOPE HE WINS, BUT WHAT IS THE ODDS OF THAT HAPPENING? EDDIE LONG HAS A BETTER CHANCE OF CONVINCING AMERICA THAT THE DEVIL MADE HIM LOVE THE BO OF TEENAGE BOYS!!! I'M SICK & TIRED OF BEING SICK & TIRED. 1-3 WITH ALL OF THAT TALENT. THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF MORE DISAPPOINTING WAS THE CANCELLATION OF PLAYMAKERS BY ESPN. RESTORE MY FAITH & AT LEAST THREATEN PHILLIPS WITH A SUPERBOWL OR ELSE ULTIMATUM. CHANNEL YOUR INNER VINCE MCMAHON, DO THE RIGHT & SAVE ME FROM ULTIMATE EMBARRASSMENT BY SAYING THOSE GOLDEN WORDS "YOUR FIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRREDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THINGS THAT I LEARNED IN WEEK 5:

* I learned that the NFL has the biggest bunch of dick riders this side of Eddie Long. The Steelers are a model franchise & they are having a good season, but give me a fucking break with all that "they are better than the Ravens" shit. The Ravens beat them point blank, no questions asked. Big Ben or no Big Ben it doesn't matter. No one mentioned that the Ravens are missing Ed Reed, or their starting left tackle or that they ran out of the normal laundry detergent they wash the uniforms with or that the normal ticket booth operator is out for two weeks with finger tendinitis....You get the point. Stop dick riding & call a spade a spade. The Ravens are the best team in the NFL RIGHT NOW, PERIOD! TELL THE JETS & THE STEELERS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!!!!

* I am tired of journalists & fans calling the level of play in the NFL mediocre this year, because their is no clear cut favorite. You ask for this shit! When my Cowboys & the 49ers were dominating the spotlight in the 90'.... everyone complained about their teams not getting a fair shot. Now that there is a salary cap in place & teams can't spend like crazy, everyone is complaining again. Shut up & accept your reality . The days of dominance is over. That's why the Pats run was all the more impressive. Today if you have D you don't have O. Or you have a QB, but no one to throw to. No team is complete so therefore the performances week in & week out are going to reflect that. Be careful what you wish for because now you have it.

* INTERESTING STAT OF THE WEEK: Kyle Orton, Tony Romo, Drew Brees, Payton Manning, and Phillip Rivers (the leading passers in the NFL) have a record of 11-13. Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, Adrian Peterson, and Armad Bradshaw (the leaders in rushing in the NFL) have a combined record of 10-9. Go figure.

* The real straw that stirs the Saints drink is Reggie Kardashian. I mean Kim Bush. Sorry Reggie...but you were the one that went in behind Ray J. lol Without him the Saints are struggling, because he is the one weapon on their team that you really have to gameplan for. He is a triple threat & his presence alone must be accounted for.

* The NFL is the real reason the hit show Playmakers was taking off the air. If you remember the show was about the trials & tribulations of a pro football team. There was the star QB who was a womanizer & used staff members to line him up some snatch. There was the Gay WR who had to keep his lifestyle hidden from the rest of the team. And don't forget the crackhead Running Back played by Cuba Gooding's brother Omar. He had another person's clean urine pumped into his body so that he could pass a drug test. That shit was put in through his bo?! I think the show hit too close to home so the NFL had ESPN pull the plug on this riveting show. If you need to see footage my man Brad Piff has copies on vhs tapes for sale.

HIGH FIVE:

1) RAVENS (4-1) THE MOST COMPLETE TEAM IN THE NFL
2) JETS (4-1) GAINING CONFIDENCE AS THE WEEKS GO BY
3) STEELERS (3-1) BIG BEN IS BACK
4) PATS (3-1) WHAT WILL "LAM" LOOK LIKE....AS IN LIFE AFTER MOSS?
5) BEARS (4-1) BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY

BUFFOON OF THE WEEK:

If you were a star QB, future hall of famer, had millions of dollars in your bank account (& will continue to make millions in the future), was happily married with children & one of the most recognizable people in the US.........WOULD YOU TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR JOHNSON & SEND THEM TO A CHICK FOR VIEWING?!

Now I'm not here to comment on his marriage, but what would make a man who has done it all leave his life of chilling to come back & play football? Sounds like someone who was trying to get away from his wife. See a previous Lowdown from a year ago where I touched on this. Brett Favre is smoking that shit. Because there is no way that a man of this magnitude should resort to sexting to pull a bitch. Brett, have you not learned from Tiger you dumb mutherfucker? This shit will get out! Use your boy, another player, your manager, a Pre-Paid phone where the shit can't be linked to you. But don't put your shit on display for all to see! I want to meet the bitch that has that bomb ass capable of making me take a picture of the bozack & sending it. That piece of ass don't exist. I'm small time & I know the ramifications. Nothing good can come from my bo making it's way around the net. If you were that horny, there is Uporn, Pornhub, Come and get it.com, strippers, hookers & random North Ave. bitches that will break you off for a ride to the club. Now look at you....ass out, team losing, wife pissed the fuck off & I heard your dumbass didn't even hit it. At least Tiger got memories for giving up half his empire. What the fuck do you have?

Your pride? No.
Your dignity? No.
A winning record? No.
In the famous words of Ron Simmons.....DAAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNNNN.
YOU ARE THE BUFFOON OF THE WEEK!!!

I'm out like the Tampa Rays.

The Real Reason Randy Moss Was Traded

Randy Moss traded to the Vikings for 3rd round pick?!

Don't be fooled into thinking that this trade of Randy Moss to the Vikings for draft picks was done because Randy was becoming a distraction to the team. This also had nothing to do with a lack of production even though he didn't catch a single pass the other night. Belichick's fear of alienating Brady who is his meal ticket, potentially having guys side with Moss over his contract issues & once again possibly failing to deliver in the playoffs are the real reasons behind this trade.

As strange as this sounds...power & control over your team is more important sometimes than actually winning games when it comes to longevity. A coach is sometimes forced to adjust his style after years of delivering the same message or rid himself of the players who may potentially start to tune him out. A coaches best friend is his Franchise Player & if he is bought into your message & helps you deliver it....everything is lovely. Belichick's worst fear is having his locker room tune him out therefore losing control over his team.

Belichick has a history of getting rid of guys who have clout in the lockeroom if they become too big & pose a potential threat to him. Everyone gives him credit for getting rid of players early & not having to pay them once their production starts to go down. Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law & Willie McGinnis are examples of this practice. But if you look a little closer...all of these guys were not only coming up on free agency but they all were leaders in the lockerooom. Does Randy Moss not fit this example?
Now ask yourself why would a man who has won 3 Super Bowls be afraid of keeping Randy Moss? With Randy Moss comes expectations. When you have a top 5 receiver with a top 2 QB that should equal potential championship. Belichick's best year in the regular season came in 2007 Randy's first year when they went 16-0. But wait...guess what happened. No ring!!! But isn't Belichick suppose to be a genius?! WHEN YOU HAVE THAT KIND OF TALENT & YOU DON'T DELIVER, PEOPLE LOOK FOR A SCAPEGOAT & MORE OFTEN THAN NOT IT IS THE HEAD COACH THAT CATCHES IT FIRST.

Belichick knows this shit. This man had very little success prior to Brady joining him. He went 6-10, 7-9, 7-9,11-5 & 5-11 in his first five years of coaching. In 2001 the Pats started off 0-2 before going 11-3 once Brady took oer & winning the Super Bowl. See the pattern started to develop? The Pats would go on to go 9-7, 14-2, 14-2, 10-6, 12-4,1 6-0, 11-5,10-6 and 3-1 this year so far. For all of his Genius status....Belichick's success is tied directly into having Brady as his QB. Brady affords you the luxury of only having to coach the defense & more importantly game planning Peyton Manning.

Imagine if Brady spoke out on behalf of Moss & said that man deserves his money, I want him here. What choice would Bob Kraft & Belichick have, other than paying his ass? Belichick knows that without another star on this team, the expectations are lowered & any success that happens to come their way...he will get a lot of the credit for it. This man has watched some of the greats like Bill Parcells & Jimmy Johnson fail when they could no longer control their lockerooms. Belichick likes to surround himself with guys who are disciplined, follow instructions & give him a chance to look like a great coach every week. This affords him the luxury of only having to please Tom Brady & at the same time over delivering by under promising. Longevity 101.

He tried that "having favorites" shit, went 16-0 & won nothing but criticism!!!

So over the next couple of days you are going to hear shit like Randy has lost a step, that he was disrupting the lockeroom, but you know that's not true. Just like when Tom Brady said he wanted his money, Randy wanted his money also. The only crime he committed was being too talented at the wrong time.

I'm out like Michael Knight on Dancing With The Stars.

The Nfl Low Down Week #4

The NFL is reality TV, a soap opera, & a sport all combined in one. The NBA & MLB would do well to follow their blue print.

Week 1 Randy Moss speaks out about not feeling appreciated & wanting a new deal. Week 4 his ass is on the trading block for defying the one they call Bellicheck's rule of keeping shit in house. The "Ralph Tresvant" Sensitivity shit doesn't work well in the NFL, Randy. Next time try Oprah.

This off season Albert Haynesworth complains about his new role in the 3-4 scheme that Shannahan has installed. During training camp Haynesworth repeatedly fails the fitness workout & is forced to play with the walk ons & future insurance salesman while playing his way into shape. Regular season starts & his ass is still on the bench even though he makes millions of dollars & is one of the highest paid players in the league. Memo to Haynesworth: Shannahan don't give a fuck about how much your black ass makes or what system you want to play in. Don't fuck with the one they call Shannahan.

Week 4 Monday Night Football down in South beach....The Pats & Dolphins are battling for the right to finish in second place to the Jets. Then the unthinkable occurs in the second half. The Pats block a punt for a touchdown, block a field goal for a touchdown & return a kickoff 103 yds....for a touchdown. The end result, the one they call Parcells fired his special team coach quicker than the time Jay Cutler had to pass in the pocket against the Giants!

Preseason Matt Leinart plays like the starting QB job is his...so he doesn't go all out. The one they call Whisenhut sees this, decides in NINO BROWN style that he never liked that pretty USC mutherfucker anyway & cuts his ass before the seasons starts.

All of these scenarios occurred because in the NFL, unless you are a Franchise QB (sorry Donavan) your number could be up at anytime. Every week you better play hard, keep your mouth shut, stay injury free, never age, don't embarrass the organization & last but not least.....don't engage in a war of words or bad mouth the name of your headcoach. Imagine coaching James, Mello, or that underachieving buffoon Eddie Curry & being able to tell them shut the fuck up or get with my program. Imagine a world in the NBA where players had to perform or risk getting cut. Imagine players giving their all & listening to their head coach insatead of plotting how they are going to get them fired. Remember when mild mannered Robert Horry threw a towell in the face of Danny Ainge when he was coaching in Phoenix? Let Randle El attempt that same shit with Omarr Epps AKA Mike Tomlin. After they remove his size 10 from Randle El's ass, Tomnlin might be seen doing time in prison for assault charges. The NFL may not be perfect, but as far as discipline & doses of reality are concerned....it is the best thing going today. Now on to the LOWDOWN.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW:

* Whoever said that this was the new era of offensive football didn't have that talk with the Giants Sunday Night. The Bears went through three QB'S & were in danger of asking Jim McMahon or Vince Evans to make a return. I don't know what Cutler did to Lovie Smith's daughter, but letting that man take that beating was unnecessary.
* LT maybe the exception to the rule as it relates to RB'S breaking down once they reach 30. I for one thought he was done but he is showing what hard work, motivation, and tapes of the (EMMITT SMITH ) can do for you.
* The Steelers "no one man is above the crew" philosphy works & has them 3-1 playing with a 4th string QB.
* Kevin Korn on the Kolb still sucks. That thing that Philly wide receivers are still waiting for you to do is called "the forward pass".
* If the Vikes get Moss they still won't win. I'm just convinced that T.O., MOSS, & CHAD JOHNSON are prima donas more concerned with how they look & less about the teams that they play for.
* The Falcons & Packers still don't do it for me. They are like Jada Pinkett. She is good looking, but she is still missing something that is keeping her from being fine like a Beyonce or Halle Berry.
* Raven fans need to stop celebrating like that fucking win Sunday was monumental. Your last 3 wins against the Steelers have come against QB's not named Big Ben. Do that shit in January & I will be impressed.
* Bellicheck is smarter than even the press gives him credit for. Getting rid of Moss & any other veteran with an axe to grind gives him complete power of his football team. It also allows Brady to throw to whoever is open without fear of having to keep Mr Sensitivity happy.
* The Colts could be in trouble. They are the only team in sports who's QB is praised & not blamed when he throws for 400 yds and they lose.
* I'm glad that buffoon team of mines (the DALLAS COWBOYS) had their bye week early. That way they have plenty of time to come up with a new comedy routine for any upcoming losses.
* Discipline is only a good thing when positive results & new behaviors are developed. Other than that, just ask Penny from Goodtimes and she will tell you that pretty soon it becomes abuse. Mike Singletary better get some results quick!!!

HIGH FIVE:

1) STEELERS 3-1 LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS NOW THAT BIG BEN IS BACK
2) RAVENS 3-1 NOW THEY NEED TO FIGURE OUT THE BENGALS
3) JETS 3-1 SANCHEZ LOOKS GOOD
4) SAINTS 3-1 WINNING UGLY
5) PATS 3-1 BRADY + BELLICHECK= WINS

BUFFOON OF THE WEEK:

My Buffoon of the week for the second straight week....Eddie Long. One of your boy toys said you used to send him pictures of yourself wearing Buff Bagwell spandex outfits, with Slick Rick kangols and white slouch socks. I wish I was making that shit up, but just look at the photo above. That is some Big Poppa Pump shit right there. Only Scott Steiner & Buff Bagwell can get away with wearing that in public. I was going to go at R & B singer Mario for allegedgly fucking up his mom to increase record sales, but I laid of his ass because of Eddie Long's love of the Bo & underarmourwear. It's bad enough that you got pictures of Raz B on your wall, but you also run around town late at night with your Mr. Perfect spandex singlet on? You will forever be enshrined in the Buffon Hall of Fame.

Random Thoughts

Everybody is up in arms over James (formerly Lebron "King" James/ formerly Queen James...now just James) bringing up the race card on a recent interview on CNN & his views on African American basketball athletes being treated more harshly by the general public than other athletes. Think about what he said & ask yourself is he wrong.

When James and his Business Manager Maverick Carter decided to go forward with The Decision aired on ESPN they knew they were going to receive some flack from it, but they weren't prepared for the all out assault that took place on James's image in the public. The idea was to do something innovative & captivating that would be considered trendsetting. Maverick Carter who is probably a little in over his head, angered more than just the Cleveland fan base. He rocked the solid foundation around which the LeBron James brand is built. OK chalk it up to youthful exuberance, but everybody makes mistakes. Only a wise man with his clients best interest at heart wouldn't have made this mistake.

Maverick Carter & James are guilty of poor judgement & bad taste, but nothing else. To rake them over the coals for anything else would be considered unfair treatment & yes in their eyes...a little racist.
I am the first to say I was disappointed at the way James (formerly King James) handled things, but more importantly I thought he was robbing the public of seeing something truly spectacular happening in the city of Cleveland. A talent like his doesn't come along too often & I thought he took the easy way out. Nothing more nothing less.
If anything I think the city of Cleveland & its fan base should have been the ones most upset. But some of the criticism that I read / hear seems to stem from anger over young African American millionaires bucking tradition & taking ownership over their careers & money making opportunities.

Suppose Maverick Carter was named Jonathan Steinberg. He just happened to be a white male with a graduate degree from Harvard. He represented Stephen Lowenstein (All Star goalie for the Philadelphia Flyers) & they did the same exact thing. What would the public outcry be like?
Unfortunately in our society race factors into everything & if you don't think so you are living in an alternate universe. People look at James & Carter and act like they are seeing Stringer Bell & Avon Barksdale. This isn't The Wire that we are talking about. It is an African American basketball player and his manager making some bad judgement decisions, but in the end not breaking any laws except for human decency & business protocol.

Ask yourself why there is a dress code & age limit in basketball but no such rules in less say.....tennis. I see teenage millionaires who play tennis recieve no public outcry or drop in their Q ratings when they make a mistake. The NBA is a league where over 90% of the players are African American, but 90% of the buying public is white. If you don't thing race factors in to A PIMP NAMED STERN'S decision making process, then you are about as smart as Jamarcus Russell admitting to sipping on CYSURP & thinking he will quarterback again in the NFL.
The NBA has a reputation for having thugs & punks as their leaders/ public spokesman. Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant, & Dwight Howard just to name a few, don't strike fear into the hearts of any thugs I know. But yet...some want to classify them as such. Does Ray Allen or Derek Fisher look like tough guys to you?
If Kenyon Martin played football his behavior would be acceptable. If he played hockey it would be encouraged. But only in basketball is it seen as thug-like. The only thing thug-like about Kenyon Martin is his tattoos & even that is called into question because of those lips on his neck.

Be mad at James for bad taste, for questionable judgement & for taking bad advice. But don't let his skin color affect how you view him as a person or athlete. The first time he takes the court & produces like we know he can, hopefully all this will be put to rest & we can enjoy basketball for the incredible game that it is. Not for the divisive race conqueror that it could be.

I'm out like Trevor Pryce to the Jets.

The NFL Low Down Week #3

Can someone tell me the definition of overrated or underrated?
If you listen to the media, I think they define those terms by who they like or get along with. I believe they base who is overrated or underrated by the market they play in & the amount of publicity they receive. I hear all the time how Peyton Manning is the best quarterback of our generation. His leadership and knowledge of the game is second to none. On the other hand, you look at Tony Romo & he is often the poster child for BUFFOONARY & the All Over-rated team. I believe there are a lot of factors that go into determining how your career is viewed. Simply looking at highlights on Sports Center is not enough.
Peyton Manning was drafted #1 overall by the Colts in 1998. His first four years in the league he was a 2 time pro bowler, compiled a record of 32-32 & more importantly....he was 0-2 in the playoffs (the big games, you know when the pressure is on the most). His QB rating during this time was 85.17 & he threw for 111 TDS, 81 INTS, 16,418 YDS. For those keeping score: HE WAS A .500 QB WHO THREW 20 INTS A SEASON!!! Overrated or underrated? Remember he was the fucking #1 pick in the draft.
Tony Romo was an undrafted walk on who played his way into a 3rd string spot on the Cowboys roster in 2003. No press conference, no limo to pick him up & no signing bonus. In his first four years Romo was a 3x pro bowler, compiled a record of 40-18 & he was 1-3 in the playoffs. His QB rating was 95.4 (3RD ALL TIME) & he threw for 108 TDS, 55 INTS, 15,327 YDS. For those of you keeping score: He wins 69% of the time, averages a little less than 1 INT a game & completes 64% of his passes. Based off of that....who did you think is overrated and who do you think is underrated?
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that Romo is better. I'm just saying that at the end of the day Tony is a helluva QB, who is vastly misjudged, because of the uniform he puts on. If Tony Romo played for the Chiefs or the Jaguars they would building statues of his ass. People in those cities would be naming their sons after him & offering up their virgin daughters to him for marriage. The only thing Tony has done wrong is playing for the Dallas Cowboys & believing that he would be allowed to grow like any other undrafted player would. MOTHERFUCKERS, HE WAS NOT DRAFTED! THAT MEANS THAT EVERY FUCKING TEAM IN THE NFL SAID "YOU KNOW WHAT TONY, YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO EVEN BE 3RD STRING & CARRY A CLIPBOARD ON MY SIDELINES! Peyton throws for a gazillion yards every year, does all that pre snap bull shit, gets one of the top 2 seeds every year & has only one Superbowl to show for it. Imagine if Kobe never won a ring without Shaq. They would still be calling him overrated. Tom Brady for my money is the best thing going. But to me he is vastly underrated with his 3 Superbowl rings & his status as a 6th round pick, because all of America keeps putting Peyton over him. The year he finally got his props, he didn't even win (18-0 season)....Go figure! All I am saying is, undrafted players can never be overrated....but #1 picks with tons of records & 1 Superbowl to show for it can. Now on to the Lowdown.

THINGS THAT I LEARNED IN WEEK 3:

As far as the eyeball test is concerned...Mike Vick looks better than ever. He is like Demi Moore. We keep telling ourselves there is no way, but our eyes are not deceiving us.

Anquan Bouldin AKA THE DIFFERENCE MAKER is delivering as advertised & just ask Arizona if they miss his ass.

I learned that if you don't have a superstar on your team that has your back & buys into your philosophy, when the going gets tough, you will get tuned out & become a statistic real quick.

The media is made up of clowns who don't really believe half of what they say. They are now saying that Chicago is overrated and Jay Cutler is a fraud. At 3-0 we should all be so bad.

I learned that THE PERFORMANCE ENHANCER Rex Ryan knows talent and how to motivate it. LT is running physically & Sanchez is looking decent. Braylon is even catching the ball.

I learned that calling a timeout before a kicker kicks is a bad thing especially when your name is Sean Payton. Call a timeout & your team just blocked the kick? WHAT THE FUCK?!

UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS:

I do believe that you can lead by example in some sports, but you can't get away with it while playing QB in the NFL. I was talking to my boy Brad Piff the other day & the topic of leadership came up. We were talking about the end of the Charger/Seahawk game where Rivers threw a pick to end the game. His body language after the game was that of a pissed off mofo who was sick & tired of being sick & tired. He was yelling, pointing & if you had just tuned in, you would have sworn that someone else on the team had just fucked up. Because of his demonstrative manner & his I don't give a fuck attitude, he is never blamed for his teams misfortune even when he has something to do with it. His teammates never complain to the media about their lack of touches or anything related to Rivers. That's leadership. Eli Manning on the other hand had similar numbers to Rivers & his team loss just like Rivers except he was blamed for it. The media was talking about how the Giants lack a true leader & that this would have never happened if Strahan was there. The Cowboys loss in week #1 to the Deadskins & on the last play of the game Romo threw what we all thought was the winning TD. Wrong!!! A holding penalty was called & Romo was blamed for coming up short again. This type of shit never happens to Peyton or Brady because their teammates know better. Jump offsides or get called for a holding penalty that cost Peyton or Brady the game. Forget the coach...your ass belongs to them. I once saw Brady headbutt one of his lineman after a good block. That shit got me pumped up! What lineman wouldn't want to block for his ass? Whenever Larry Allen or Erik Williams fucked up, Troy Aikman let them hear it! And those lineman are Hall of Famers. If Romo yells at his line, gets in Roy Willaims face & tells him to get open, demands that his team plays together & smarter....Guess what? They do because the QB is the unquestioned leader of the team. The owner pays you & can't afford to replace you. The head coach needs you support & therefore will back you. If Eli & Tony ever learn anything about being a QB, it should be this. If your team does not respect you as their leader, they will disrespect you & let you get blaimed for all that is wrong with the team, even if it is not your fault.

HIGH FIVE

1) STEELERS 3-0 I COULD START FOR THEM AND THEY WOULD STILL WIN
2) SAINTS 2-1 ONE OT LOSS DOES NOT DEFINE A TEAM
3) RAVENS 2-1 CUT THE DEFENSE SOME SLACK
4) JETS 2-1 GAINING MOMENTUM
5) COLTS 2-1 CONSISTENTLY GOOD

BUFFOON OF THE WEEK:

Bishop Eddie Long. Are you fucking serious?! I'm not even going to get into you cheating on your wife, that's your business. But let me ask you one question. You do live in Atlanta, Georgia right? Home of some of the phatest ass in the world, right? Let me see...there is Magic City & Strokers just to name a few of the establishments that showcase the most physically blessed vixens that I have ever laid my eyes on. Yet instead of chicks like Shaneka Adams & Maliah....you look at the anatomy of some 16 /17 year old boys & say to yourself..."I got to have me some of that?!" Bitch, have you lost your mind?! Even George Michaels sweet ass said, "I DON'T KNOW BOUT THAT CHOICE."
I'm not even trying to figure out the mindset or logic behind your actions. Cause when your a grown ass man & you live in Atlanta...FUCKING WITH BOYS ain't a motherfucking option!!! Your choosing the Bo makes you BUFFOON OF THE WEEK. Once again, Are you are out your fucking mind?! ALL THAT SCATTERED ASS WALKING AROUND ATLANTA & YOU GOT TO FUCK WITH THE BOYS?! I THROW MY ARMS UP!!!!!

I'M OUT LIKE HUMAN DECENCY!!!!!!!
